Contact Lens Exams & Fittings in Forsyth, GA
A glasses prescription is not a contact lens prescription. We measure your eyes for the lens, fit it, and teach you to wear it comfortably.
Contact Lens Exams and Fittings
Why Contacts Need Their Own Exam
Contact lenses sit directly on the eye, so the prescription has to account for the curve and diameter of your cornea, the lens material and how your eyes handle a lens all day. That is why a contact lens exam includes extra measurements and a trial fitting on top of the standard eye exam.
Eye exams at Best Chance Optical are performed by a licensed eye doctor. William Chancellor, our licensed optician, then handles your the fitting, your lens training and reorders. For first-time wearers that includes practising insertion and removal until you are comfortable doing it on your own.
We fit daily, two-week and monthly disposables, toric lenses for astigmatism and multifocal lenses for presbyopia. Once your fit is confirmed you receive a contact lens prescription you can fill with us or anywhere else.

Who It Is For
Who Comes to Us for This
First-time wearers
We start with lens types that are forgiving to learn on, walk you through handling and care, and schedule a follow-up to confirm the fit.
Astigmatism and bifocal wearers
Toric and multifocal lenses have more variables to get right. A careful fitting is the difference between contacts that work and a drawer full of unused boxes.
Switching brands or unhappy with your fit
Dry, blurry at the end of the day, or lenses that rotate? Bring your current boxes and we will look at material and fit, not just power.
How It Works
What to Expect
Exam and measurements
Comprehensive eye exam plus corneal measurements and a conversation about your schedule and how long you wear lenses each day.
Trial fitting
You try lenses in the office. We check movement, centering and vision, then adjust until it is right.
Follow-up and prescription
After a short wear period we confirm the fit and finalize your contact lens prescription, valid for at least one year under Georgia rules.
Common Questions
Contact Lens FAQ
Can I use my glasses prescription to buy contacts?
No. A contact lens prescription includes the lens brand, base curve and diameter in addition to power, and it can only be written after a fitting.
How long is a contact lens prescription good for in Georgia?
Georgia optometry rules set a contact lens prescription expiration of at least one year unless there is a medical reason for a shorter period. Lenses also cannot be refilled from prescription data more than three years old.
Do you fit contacts for astigmatism?
Yes. Toric soft lenses for astigmatism and multifocal lenses for presbyopia are part of our everyday fittings.
Can I order contacts from you after the fitting?
Yes. We can order your lenses, and you are also free to take your prescription elsewhere. Federal rules require that you receive a copy once the fitting is complete.
