Comprehensive Eye Exams
What a Comprehensive Eye Exam Covers
A comprehensive eye exam is more than reading letters off a chart. It measures the prescription you need to see clearly, checks how your eyes work together, and screens the health of the eye itself, including signs of glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic changes that can show up years before you notice a problem.
Eye exams at Best Chance Optical are performed by a licensed eye doctor. William Chancellor, our licensed optician, then handles your lenses, frames and fitting. That split is how Georgia licensing works, and it also means two sets of trained eyes on your vision instead of one.
Exams start at $45. That is the price for the exam itself, with no requirement to buy glasses and no surprise add-ons at checkout. Uninsured and self-pay patients are welcome, and CareCredit financing is available for exams and eyewear.

Common Questions
Eye Exam FAQ
How much is an eye exam without insurance in Forsyth?
Comprehensive eye exams at Best Chance Optical start at $45, and you do not need insurance. Contact lens exams add a fitting fee, which we quote before the exam starts.
Who performs the eye exam?
A licensed eye doctor performs the exam. Georgia law reserves eye examinations and prescriptions for licensed optometrists and ophthalmologists, so our licensed optician focuses on your lenses, frames and fit.
Do I get a copy of my prescription?
Yes. Federal rules give you the right to a copy of your eyeglass prescription at the end of the exam, whether or not you buy glasses, and we hand it to you without being asked.
How long does an eye exam take?
Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for a glasses exam. If your eyes are dilated, bring sunglasses for the drive home.
Can I get same-day glasses after my exam?
Often, yes. Our on-site lab can cut many single-vision lenses the same day. Specialty lenses and some coatings take longer, and we will tell you before you order.
